Jun 4, 2024 | Breaking News

A list of our favourite outdoor activities and scenic views to relax while getting your steps up this long weekend.

With the June long weekend approaching, what better opportunity to get outdoors, go for a walk, explore nature, and recharge that battery with a nice break? At KompleteCare, we know mental health is just as important as physical health, so it is important to take some time away to reset, relax, and unwind. We have compiled a list of some of our favourite spots to recharge, unwind, and relax while getting your steps up!

These locations are perfect for various activities, ensuring everyone can participate, with walking trails that provide accessibility no matter your ability. We have chosen some outdoor walking trails, picnic locations, and scenic views to help you feel more connected with nature. The five different locations all have accessibility options so that everyone can participate. If you want to visit any of these places, call us at KompleteCare, and we can support you. Whether you are involved in the Aged Care and Disability Care industry or just looking to enjoy some much-needed relaxation, we have you covered.

Outdoor Activities: Cleland Wildlife Park

Cleland Wildlife Park is about 20 minutes from Adelaide’s city centre. It offers an opportunity to get close to various native Australian animals, including koalas, kangaroos, and emus. The park focuses on conservation and education, providing habitats that closely resemble the animals’ natural environments. You can walk among the animals, feed them, and even hold a koala.

Open all long weekend, a great trip to get outdoors. While you are there, why not visit Waterfall Gully? The first falls offer a scenic waterfall that is particularly striking after heavy rain. The area is a starting point for the popular Waterfall Gully to Mount Lofty Summit hike, which offers spectacular views of the Adelaide Plains and the city. The trail is quite challenging but well worth the effort for the view at the top.

Outdoor Activities: Himeji Gardens

Himeji Gardens is a traditional Japanese garden situated in the southern parklands of Adelaide. It was a gift from Adelaide’s sister city, Himeji, in Japan. The garden features classic elements of Japanese landscape design, including a serene lake, a dry rock garden, manicured trees, and traditional lanterns. It is a peaceful retreat that reflects the harmony and tranquillity of Japanese culture, such a beautiful place to relax and unwind.

Our KompleteCare Community Day Options program has visited the Himeji gardens in the past with our social support groups, who have all had a blast and experienced the amazing views. With accessible parking and walking trails, Himeji Gardens is perfect for your next outing.
