For avid footy fans, there’s nothing like going to a game to support their favourite team and experiencing the excitement of being a part of the crowd. But for footy fans living with a disability or mobility issues, more work goes into planning a stress-free and accessible footy trip.
To help relieve some of the stress when planning your accessible footy game day, we’ve got all the information you need for your local AFL stadiums, including accessibility information for Adelaide Oval and Optus Stadium.
Accessible Footy at Adelaide Oval
Adelaide Oval is a fully accessible venue, with access to stands via stairs, escalators, and lifts. All entries to the stadium are wheelchair accessible, and there are 275 wheelchair-accessible seats with flexible seating for companions on both public and corporate levels. There are also 119 easy-access seats with extra space for mobility aids, assistance animals, or those needing extra room. All bars and food outlets within the stadium are height accessible, so no one misses out on any of the food or beverage offerings.
The stadium is fitted with 41 unisex accessible designated bathrooms, complete with Braille signage and information on which way to transfer onto the pan (RH transfer right, LH transfer left). Additionally, there are 77 additional accessible cubicles within gendered bathrooms with extra space, outward-opening doors, and assistive hand railings. Male urinals are also fitted with support railings for mobility aid users.
Infrared neck look receivers are available at ticket counters for those requiring hearing assistance during the game, and hearing loops are available at select function rooms and bars for those with hearing aids. Hearing looks can be collected in the William Magarey Room, Premiership Suite, MG Suite One, Committee Room, SMA Boardroom, Gil Langley Room, Leigh Whicker Room, Ian McLachlan Dining Room, and the Phil Ridings Bar.

Accessible Footy at Optus Stadium
Optus Stadium takes pride in catering to everyone, regardless of age, experience, or ability. The venue’s design aims to not only meet specific standards but strive to exceed them as a benchmark and create an inclusive venue for all fans. There are 12 accessible lifts within the stadium, with one at each of the main entry gates and priority to patrons with accessibility needs. These lifts can also hold power to operate in the event of a power failure and allow all individuals to evacuate the venue safely.
The stadium has 450 wheelchair positions across all levels, with flexible seating for carers and companions. Additionally, there are 327 Enhanced Amenity seats for individuals with mobility requirements. The venue has nine times more permanent ACROD parking bays than required (2013 National Construction Code), with parking permits subject to booking and availability.
There are over 60 Universal Accessible Toilets (UAT) and 3 Changing Places facilities. Changing Places facilities are private facilities with access to assistance equipment and additional space. They include a height-adjustable adult-sized changing bench, mobile hoist systems, automated MLAK-operated key entries with sliding electric doors, shower facilities, and ample space for a user and up to two carers.

Optus Stadium – Ticketmaster
Ticketmaster is the only authorised ticket seller for all major events at Optus Stadium. Ticketmaster Accessible Seating Line can assist with all wheelchair, companion card, and accessible needs ticketing requirements and requests. Adelaide Oval – Ticketek
Ticketek is the only authorized ticketing agency for Adelaide Oval events. For accessible ticketing purchases and enquiries for AFL games at Adelaide Oval, contact the Ticketek Special Needs Hotline.
