In Home Care vs Residential Care – Part One

Our baby boomer parents are now heading to their later years and they are living much longer than their parents. Our lives are enriched by the knowledge, wisdom, information and history our parents have endured and we are so grateful for the path they have paved for us. With all this wisdom and experience the downside now is the age-related health issues they are now living with.

So whats next? How do we live out our later years with the freedom and dignity we have earned? The good news is that the options have never been broader, or offered more lifestyle options.

Not surprisingly all of the surveys on the subject are clear, our parents want to spend their retirement in their own home with just over 75 percent of those surveyed preferring to remain at home. This is also encouraged by the Government who recognise the cost-effective aspects of in-home care.

Over the next few weeks, we will be running a series as part of our “Helping your parents stay in their own home” channel. We will discuss the options, the pros and cons and have some advice to help people looking for information to help with the decisions that have to be made.

Join our Facebook group to contribute to the conversation.
