Amy Grant – Parents with dementia

Nov 28, 2019 | Aged Care News, KompleteCare News

We think many of our readers can relate to Amy’s journey with her parents, we posted this video to help people understand the moment that most families will face at some time.

“I just knew something was different and i didnt know how much time we had, my mother was getting so frail… but it was during 2009, I would go ‘Dad, you’re talking differently than you did last week.” and so he hit that slippery slope of really fast progressing dementia. But you know in a way it was… It’s a crazy kind of gift because my father adored my mother” We talked with my dad about things that mattered to him”.

“He said ‘I want to stay with your mom.’ We slowly had the discussion about not driving, we transferred power of attorney, I mean it’s tough but things happen all the time to families”.

Amy is an American singer, songwriter, musician, author and media personality. As of 2009, she had sold more than 30 million albums worldwide,[3] won six Grammy Awards and 22 Gospel Music Association Dove Awards, and had the first Christian album to go Platinum Wikipedia
